This fair trade necklace is made from multi strands of coconut shell beads and sea bamboo Coral chippings from fair trade designers Lotusfeet. A substantial looking necklace, without being heavy so can be worn all day long! Each necklace fastens at the back with a coconut button, an extra benefit for all those allergic to metals.

Sea Bamboo Coral
Coral jewellery has been made in many parts of the world and used for adornment since prehistoric times. The Sea bamboo Coral used for jewellery making is different from the endangered Coral species 'corallium japonicum' found on the barrier reefs. Sea bamboo is a plant farmed in the waters around Indonesia and is widely used in jewellery offering a more environmentally sustainable alternative to coral. It is dyed red, but it is permanently coloured - it will not fade or wash out.
